Oh my gosh, I have not posted on my blog since last May! I still check on all of your lovely blogs just about every day.
I am longing for Spring...we have had such a strange Winter here in East Texas. It has snowed several times and it is going to again tomorrow. It is pretty, but cold weather "just ain't my thang". I don't know how you gals up north deal with it?

I feel the need to do a rain dance. We have had rain all around us the last few days, but it just goes right around us.

My Faithful Oakleaf Hydrangea is full of blooms. I think she is the "Queen of my garden".

I have been trying for years to grow Shasta Daisies from seed...with no luck. I finally did it! This is my first bloom. Yeah!!!
I have bought several from the nursery only to have them die ~sigh~
Mr. Fly seems to like it too.

This is the first year I have tried these Lemon Zest Petunias. I hope I can keep them blooming during the heat of the summer. I usually don't have much luck with Petunias when it gets hot.

I have always wanted a little sitting area in my bedroom. Yesterday I pulled one of my wicker rockers off the porch and cleaned it up. My husband painted it for me and I put it in a corner in our bedroom. I really like how it turned out.

It snowed in East Texas...It was so pretty. I did not get to take good pictures because I had to go to work and it was still dark when I left. Including indoors...my power was off. It is not fun getting ready in the dark. Ever tried to put on make-up by candle light? I figured when I got to work in the light I would look like a clown. Oh well, I work at a primary school, so that could pay off with the kids. LOL
BTW my power was only out for the early part of the day :)

Remember Bubba on Forrest Gump, the way he went on and on about shrimp....that's the way I feel about lemons! I love lemon tea, lemon cleaners, lemon cake, lemon pie, lemon drops, lemon air freshener, lemonade. I could just go on and on, but I won't! I just love lemons.

Oh my! I sure wish Spring would get here...I am having Garage Sale withdrawals. LOL The weather has been so nice the last two days, I just knew there would be some in the paper this morning...only two. Sighhhh. Maybe next week, but then again it might be 20 degrees out. It was in the teens one week and the next it was warm with tornado sirens blaring. Gotta love Texas weather. You will never get bored with it and forget knowing how to dress in the mornings. Watching the weather man is a must! I'm really not complaining. Just being silly. I love Texas and wouldn't know how to live anywhere else. (although a tropical island with sandy beaches...just kiddin')

If you love coffee or hot tea....you must have one of these! It's a Keurig coffee maker. It makes one cup at a time. You just pop in a K-cup and press the button and you have a cup of coffee, tea or hot chocalate in seconds. There are so many flavors to choose from too. We have one at work and I just had to have one here at home. My sweet family got me one for Christmas. Ladies drop by and lets have a cup.

I had this arrangement for a long time...it had lemons and then grapes and a lot of olive leaves, but I needed some flowers for it and had been looking at Michaels and Hobby Lobby, but never found exactly what I wanted. Well a few weeks ago I went to a Garage sale and this young lady had a big bundle of flowers just tied together laying there (unmarked) I asked how much she wanted for them and she said make an offer...well I hate to do that...I might offend someone, ya know...so I kind of shrugged my shoulders like I don't know and she said how about two dollars. Well, I said Ok...inside I was having a party saying Oh yea!!!! Anyway I added the hydrangeas and little grassy things to the arrangement and this is what I came up with. I sure wish I had a before picture. Not too shabby for 2 bucks. Gotta love Garage Sales!!!

Dozen Red Roses Hubby bought me for our 30 year anniversary. They look like velvet. They are so pretty...he did good.

We have had trouble with wild grapevine growing in the azaleas by the deck...well we got tired of fighting them so we're letting them grow over the pergola...we're liking it. Goes to show you... don't fight nature! I have got to get rid of that ugly white pot hanging on there. Actually I really need to clean the whole jungle off the deck. LOL

I got the little night stand at a garage sale. Painted it black.

This was my hope chest... not part of the set.

This was my husband's grandmother's furniture. My Mother in law (she was born on this bed) has had it for years. I have always loved it...well about a month ago she told my husband to come and get it! I could have died. I haven't had anything in that bedroom since my son got married last summer, so it was the perfect time. I am just getting started on decorating in here, I need to find more of this red floral fabric for pillows and things. I had it left over from my dining room, Hancocks doesn't carry it anymore, but it will come together. I'll post more pictures when I get it decorated.

We found this fireplace at a church garage sale today. Could not resist it for $15.00. Can you believe that? We still have to put a mantel on it (just have a board laying on it now) We were going to build a patio right there anyway so we thought this might be a good place for it. Man is this thing heavy? I cannot move one end of it at all. Thank goodness for helpful neighbors!

Well I waited and blogged and waited and blogged on...several months passed and they still hadn't approved me, so I decided I would just blog about decorating and family and also gardening. I posted to remove me from their list since my blog would not be appropriate for the garden site. Well guess what? Today I noticed they had finally put me on their website 10 monts later. I had some chair cushions my mom gave me and I bought a tablecloth Saturday at a garage sale for $2.00. I recovered the cushions with the material from the tablecloth and there you go...new cushions for $2.00. I really like the black and white on the black chairs.

I put this together the other day. I got it all from garage sales. I think all together it cost about $3.00

I finally found something that I like that fits this little wall by my pantry. I took a metal wall hanging and hung some plates I already had.
Don't you love it when you can re-use things you already have and get something new for yourself for nothing?

I dug up some daffodils last summer and stuck some of them in a pot...I forgot all about them and today we were cleaning up the back yard and look what I found behind a bush! What a nice surprise! I have a lot of them coming up, but not blooming this early. It was such a pretty day here today (in the 70's), but I think that is going to end this evening, cold and rainy for the weekend. For the past nine years (that's how long we've lived here) I've wanted to tear down the soffits above my kitchen cabinets...shouldn't be that big of a deal, right? Hummm, think again! 2008 will be a year to remember! It has been a good year all in all. The best part of it was Jayson and Michelle's marriage. We are all healthy and happy. Logan is doing great in school! We have a lot to be thankful for. We are truly Blessed.

I finally have my tree up and some decorations done...I can't take a good picture of the tree to save my life! But here they are anyway! I am just so glad to have my tree up.

Old Family Home Place

This is the farm house that my great grandfather and grandfather were raised in. We use it for our family get togethers. We are so blessed to have this old home place and all our heritage right there.

I got some pretty good stuff this morning. This is a shelf I got and didn't have a spot that it would fit so I turned it upside down and made a plate holder out of it for the kitchen. Turned out pretty good. Now I'd better get busy doing something worth while...like cleaning this house!

New Drapes

My Mom gave me her drapes she wasn't using any longer. Here is the before and after in the dining room and the after in the bedroom. All I had in the bedroom before was the blinds on the french doors. I still need to find some new wall hangings to go with them but you will get the idea. The one in the dining room I had to raise a little so it does hang better than in the pic. Thanks Mom!

I put these chef pictures up the other night, I don't think I like them. So I replaced it with this pear and fig picture, but I have to find something to go along with it. How about a stick of dynamite? Anyone have one? Just kidding!!! Don't send the feds out!!! Unless they have a degree in decorating that is. LOL

First Day off project...

I got this lamp at a garage sale many months ago for $1.00. It has been sitting in the garage collecting dust. I had an idea...Left over fabric from the curtains and a little black spray paint and here it is. I've always seen them recover lamp shades on the make over shows, but I never thought I could do it, but I did! You might need to click on it so you can see it better. I had better go see what else I can get into. I like this being off from work business! LOL

I was thinking about Jayson and Michelle's wedding and I really didn't post many pictures of it. The cake was so pretty I thought I'd show you. The pictures really don't do it justice. There is a crystal heart with their names and wedding date on top. So pretty.
